AUDITION DEADLINE – May 30, 2026
All recording must be received by this date.

To join the Nova Scotia Youth Wind Ensemble, you must do two things:

1 – Submit an Online Application Form
All returning and NEW applicants must complete the registration form.

2 – Submit a Recording
All returning and new applicants must submit a recording.

Please record a audio (mp3) and/or video (mp4) share it as a link (from Google, Dropbox, or a private YouTube video)
or as an attachment with Hope Gendron (nsywe@eastlink.ca).

You must send all Three Parts of the following recorded items. Do not rush when recording your audition. Take your time! The NSYWE auditions committee will evaluate your audition and listen for the helpful items below. If you need extra time to complete your audition email Hope Gendron at: nsywe@eastlink.ca.

          PART #1          SCALES
Use a steady tempo, use alternate fingerings for where appropriate (woodwinds), play quickly and in full control, & use the articulation pattern suggested.
          PART #2          OWN CHOICE PLAYING SAMPLE
Please select a work that you can play well.
          PART #3          NSYWE REQUIRED EXCERPTS
Fast excerpt – Use a consistent tempo, accurate rhythms,
and efficient technique. Have an awareness of the style of the piece.
Slow excerpt – Use consistent breath support, beautiful tone, good intonation, dynamic control, appropriate articulation, & awareness of musical phrasing.
