In my free time, I enjoy playing piano, reading, playing ringette, hiking/camping. I want to go to university but I haven’t decided on my field of study yet! I’m interested in languages, social studies, history and music.

I can play guitar and saxophone, too. Some of my other interests are drawing and painting, as well as baking. As of right now, I have no firm future plans. All I know is that I want it to involve music and be fun.

I’m a Grade 11 student at Citadel High School, and I have been studying the French horn for three years with Julie Cuming as my principal instructor. Ameilia She has been a member of the Halifax Regional Arts Symphony Orchestra and Halifax Regional Arts Wind Ensemble, and was to play with the National Youth Band in 2020 before the pandemic, and hopes to join the NYB in 2021. This year saw Ameilia creating and editing educational content for children and youth programs through drama, music and visual arts. She is excited to be returning for her third year playing with the Nova Scotia Youth Wind Ensemble.

While I play euphonium with the NSYWE, I also play trombone, classical guitar and voice. For sports, I’m involved in hockey, soccer, and baseball. After high school, I would like to study musical theatre or trombone. Or, both!

In past years, I played tuba with the NSYWE; this year, I’m moving to euphonium. I play video games in my leisure time and hope to become a professional musician.
